General Sessions Judges


Judge Sue McKnight Evans          Division IX

Judge Evans was elected to General Sessions Court Division IX in 1996. She served as Presiding Judge for General Sessions from 1996-1997. Judge Evans was re-elected to Division IX in 1998. The Tennessee Supreme Court appointed her to the Court of Judiciary for a four-year term in July 1999 and a second term in 2003. She received a Certificate of Achievement from the Tennessee Supreme Court in May 2000. Served as chairman of the Nashville Bar Association General Sessions Committee for several years. Judge Evans received an award from the National Judicial College for completion of French Civil Law Legal System in Paris, France.

A native of Davidson County, Judge Evans is a graduate of West End High School. She earned her B.S. degree (with honors) from the University of Tennessee. She received her Law Degree from the Nashville School of Law in 1986.

Judge Evans is married to Don Evans who is retired.

Judge Evans is an active member of the Nashville Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee General Sessions Judges Conference, Lawyers Association for Women, a founding member of the Tennessee Lawyers Association for Women, a member of the American Judges Association, American Bar Association, American Judicature Society and the Nashville Catholic Business Women Association.
