Getting Married?

The Judges of the Davidson County General Sessions Court are authorized to perform marriage ceremonies under Tennessee law (T.C.A. § 36-3-301). Weddings may be scheduled directly with a judge’s chambers, subject to availability and scheduling preferences. Marriage is a joyful occasion, and the Davidson County General Sessions Court would be honored to be part of your special day. Our judges are proud to serve the community in this meaningful way.

How It Works

  • You must obtain a valid Tennessee marriage license prior to your ceremony.
    • Important: Your license is only valid for 30 days from the date of issue. The ceremony must take place within that timeframe or you’ll need to apply for a new license.
  • Ceremonies may be performed at the courthouse or an alternate location, depending on the judge’s policy.
  • Some judges may have set times or days for weddings
